Home sweet home…

Simple things are often the most beautiful.  This is a concept well understood by many marine enthusiasts, and the symbiotic relationship that exists between a clownfish (amphiphrion or premnas species) and their host anemone is a stunning example of this concept.

Nestling in the protective tentacles of its host, the clownfish is a marvel to watch.

This species of clownfish, known as the Premnas biaculeatus, is widely sought after.  Its striking contrasts between colours makes it a wonderful addition to the marine tank.  It is said they are the most aggressive of all clownfish however, and should not be kept with other more docile species.

This is the beginning of something…

Posted by fishhood on June 2, 2006

Being able to replicate a foreign eco-system whereby its inhabitants are thriving and growing is such a joy to behold. And with the advantages of internet, I hope that I would be able to share this joy with everyone, and learn from each other’s encounters, experiences and advice, in what we all know as the ‘FISHHOOD’.

From the beginning of this year, through friend’s keeping freshwater.. I became fascinated with the splendours and sights of the underwater universe. It was my link to harmony and a means of escape from the rush and bustle of the everyday world. Probing into this new hobby, I quickly developed a liking for its saltwater cousins – marine for its sheer variety and colour, and with the countless visits to the local fish shop, it quickly became a passion.

By March 2006, I was determined to set up an environment where fish would thrive by closely replicating my slice of the ocean in my living room. The tank specifications are:

 54′ x 26′ x 26′ approx 550L
